HISTORIC LOBBY

As a focus on historic urban revival in a small town, this project includes solutions to highlight a local company in a tight-knit community. The legacy that The Highland Craftsmen have established with their natural bark products is honored through the building’s design by utilizing vertical lines and varying heights to symbolize how their company is set apart from others.

The design is accessible for all members of the community by following ADA guidelines and building codes, while also paying close attention to historic preservation. The solution is approached with the incorporation of elements and principles of design like contrast, repetition, and scale to create a successful space. A specially designed lobby and custom reception desk welcome guests into the space and inspire communication by providing sociopetal seating and a warm, open atmosphere. The most important aspect about this project is bringing life and interaction back into a vacant building to encourage growth in the surrounding area.
